Courtney Wile is classical trombonist turned lawyer. She has a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from Acadia University, a Master of Music (Orchestral Performance) from McGill University, and a Bachelor of Civil Law and Bachelor of Common Law from McGill University.

During her studies in music, Courtney attended various summer music festivals and training programs, on scholarship. She was a co-founder of the Metamorphosen Brass Quintet (based in Montreal), and spent a summer with this group at the Aspen Summer Music Festival, studying with the American Brass Quintet.

After completing her studies in music, Courtney spent two years playing Principal Trombone with Symphony Nova Scotia, before deciding to pivot into a career in law.

Following law school, Courtney completed her articling term clerking for the judges of the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto. Upon completion of her clerkship, Courtney joined Epstein Cole LLP, a boutique family law firm, where she is currently a partner.

Courtney has specialized training and experience in matters involving intimate partner violence. She practices with a trauma-informed approach. In support of her passion for promoting access to justice, Courtney works on a limited scope basis with clients who are unable to operate under a more traditional retainer model.  She also volunteers her time providing pro bono services through various legal clinics in Ontario.

Courtney has recently returned to playing trombone, primarily in the form of duets with her ever-patient husband  (a classical trombonist who stayed the course).
