Concert and Reception in Support of the Hannaford Street Silver Band and Hannaford Youth Programs

The Hannaford Street Silver Band is proud to partner with Aaron Davis, Suba Sankaran, Lori Cullen, and Dylan Bell in an incredible evening to raise money for the Hannaford Band and the Hannaford Youth Programs.
This concert will feature compositions by Aaron Davis arranged for rhythm section and 10 powerful Hannaford horns. Davis is known for his work as composer, arranger and pianist for Holly Cole, Measha Brueggergosman and for the worldbeat band Manteca, and the repertoire will include settings of poems by poets such as W.B. Yeats, Gerard Manley Hopkins, songs Davis co-wrote with Ron Sexsmith as well as instrumental songs that Davis wrote during his 12-year tenure with Manteca.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of musical brilliance at the grand finale of the much-awaited Great Canadian Brass Band Festival Gala Concert!

Due to a family matter, our guest conductor Philip Smith will unfortunately no longer be able to join us. While unforeseen circumstances may have led to a last-minute change in our guest conductor, the spirit and camaraderie of our incredible brass band community shines brighter than ever.

Renowned euphonium virtuoso, Gary Curtin, will be gracing our stage as our esteemed guest soloist. Hannaford welcomes Cynthia Johnston Turner, former Director of Bands at the University of Georgia and newly appointed Dean of Music at Wilfrid Laurier University will lead the Hannaford Band in the Festival Gala Concert and we are thrilled she is able to join us and lead this concert of spectacular music for brass, including new music commissioned for this concert by Marcus Venables and Juno Award-nominated composer Kristofer Maddigan.

This evening is a testament to the unbreakable bonds that unite our brass band community. Through the challenges faced, we have come together to create an extraordinary event showcasing the unwavering unity of our exceptional brass band community.
