Youngjin (John) Kim received his BEd and BMus from the University of Toronto, majoring in trumpet with Bart Woomert and Anita McAlister.

John Kim currently holds a position as the band teacher at Runnymede Junior and Senior Public School in the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), where the band program annually participated in the Kiwanis Music Festival and received many awards. He was also invited to co-conduct the Etobicoke Youth Band in 2021.

He is a trumpet specialist and a conductor for the Studio Band at Music by the Lake. As a strong advocate for music education, John Kim regularly attends various events held by OMEA, OBA, and various Wind Conducting Symposiums hosted by the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia.

As an active musician, John performs with the Riffintime Big Band, GTA Swing Band, Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra and Swing Machine. He continues to take part in performances as a freelance musician in GTA and teaches trumpet privately to a number of students, who received many scholarships for their admittance to multiple Ontario universities.
