Description
Originally written as the final part of a triptych (Progressions) for the Hannaford Youth Program in Toronto, RHAPSODY takes the melody from the Prelude and fragments it to form new material which is then developed with a strong rhythmic drive ever present. A lush middle section leads to a presentation of the original melody before a lilting fugal texture brings the opening material back to the fore, finally and inexorably driving towards a last, triumphant statement of the melody to conclude the journey. It is suitable for an advanced ensemble.
